The best coffee maker in my opinion is the Chorreador.

This is the Central American way of making coffee and is very simple. It consists of a wooden frame which holds a fabric sock. You place your mug under the sock, put the freshly ground coffee in to the sock and pour boiling water in to the sock.

The water filters through the coffee grounds and trickles in to your mug, creating a unique brew which is excellent for bringing out the flavours and tones of your coffee.

A lot of people would look at this coffee maker and think it is primitive but it actually produces a very high quality cup of coffee.

The end product is clean and well filtered, and the elements and qualities of the coffee come through extremely clearly.

When I first came to Central America I didn't know what I was going to do without my beloved French press but after my first cup of Chorreador coffee I never looked back.

I would never go back to any other way of making coffee now because this simple method produces the best mug of coffee I have ever tasted.

As Central America produces some of the best coffee in the world I should have trusted that they would know how to brew a good cup from the beginning!
